Deeply chocolate these exotic double chocolate cookies are rich and have a great chewy texture. But it is the addition of chili that makes this a flavor combination you won’t soon forget.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- .75 cup unsweetened dutch-process cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ baking soda
- 3 (3 ½ ounce) bars lindt chili chocolate, 5 ounces coarsely chopped and 5 ½ ounces cut into ¼‑inch chunks
- ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1½ cup cups sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 slice pure vanilla extract
Directions
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a large bowl sift or whisk together flour, cocoa powder, chili powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside. Melt 4 ounces coarsely chopped Lindt chili chocolate with the butter in a small heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water. Let the mixture cool slightly before proceeding.
Put chocolate and butter mixture, sugar, eggs, and vanilla in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Turn the machine to medium speed and mix until combined. Reduce speed to low and gradually mix in flour mixture in 3 additions, do not over-mix. Fold in chocolate chunks by hand.
Using a 1 ½‑inch ice cream scoop, drop the dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing the cookies about 2 inches apart. Bake the cookies about 15 minutes, or until they flatten and begin to crack. Remove them from the oven, they should be quite soft. Lift them off the baking sheet, parchment and all, and allow then to cool on wire racks. Cookies can be stored between layers of parchment in airtight containers at room temperature up to 3 days.
I got the Double Blade Mezzaluna yesterday and used it to make our pasta cause which has chopped up onions and peppers and it made the task of chopping so easy.
great product!
I didn’t know about opensky. Nice picture on your shopping page.

Excellent! I’ll check it out! Thanks for sharing, Greg!
Anytime I am offered, I reply:
First, I don’t promise a review. I come from the “if you can’t say something nice.….” school. If I don’t like a product, I won’t bad mouth it. I just won’t review it. Second, all reviews have my standard disclaimer: Unless otherwise stated, I have no affiliation with and received no compensation from restaurants or product manufacturers reviewed and paid full retail price for the item reviewed. So I would note in the review that I received the product at no costs, just to be up front.
So far everyone of them have been okay with it.
You know I will be checking this out! I need to move though…to a place with a bigger kitchen!
Yippee–a sippysup store! fabulous and when it gets big and you need to open retail shops, I will be the snarky (and silly) boss of the Provience store…deal?
This must be good if you, picky, snarky bastard filled with integrity that you are, are talking about it. 😉 Worth a look!
Being sent free stuff is hard to turn down, especially when you just need to write a blog entry. I admire you for sticking to your morals and looking for the best way possible to promote items/products that you personally like/use. I think that is great. It only adds more credibility to you and your site. Hopefully it works out for you in all respects. Good luck!
