Inexpensive Champagne or sparkling wine is a fine choice for most cocktails that call for it as an ingredient. The Champagne cocktail is an exception however. Use good quality dry Champagne and you will see it perfected with the addition of these two simple ingredients.
- 1 sugar cube
- 3 dash angostura bitters
- 1 ounce brandy
- 1 champagne (to fill flute)
Drop the sugar cube into the bottom of a chilled Champagne flute. Add the bitters right on top of the sugar cube, followed by the brandy. Slowly pour in the Champagne.
