Okay. This tells you something about me. One of my New Years resolutions for Sippity Sup was to do fewer GIVEAWAYS. Not that I really did that many. I have always been a bit picky about how much free promotion I’d get suckered into at Sippity Sup.
Well here we are barely 2 weeks into the New Year and that resolution goes out the window. Because I have a Tassimo T20 Coffee System for one lucky (U.S. only- sorry) reader. It’s just too good a prize not to want to be involved, right? Besides, it’s not like I said I would never do a GIVEAWAY. I just think I should only do GOOD ones. So my resolution is still intact ‘cuz this is a good one.
All the rules are in the following video. I want this to be a quick contest so I can show my appreciation to those that stop by here regularly. Which means the odds could be quite good on winning. I’ll announce the winner here via a “live” video drawing on TUESDAY, Jan. 18. Good Luck!
Oh yeah, here’s a hint. If you RETWEET this using the button at the top your will increase your chances of winning. Same with the STUMBLE button! GREG
The machine pictured in the video I received as a promotional sample. The opinions stated here are my own. GREG
Fuerte avocados are especially delicious. I prefer them over Bacon or Zutano. When they are ripe, the skin will peel right off, leaving a perfect fruit for slicing. Reed avocados are late summer/fall fruit and are delicious sliced on top of soup. While the grocery stores do not stock these varieties, we have been able to ship them direct to people who want local avocados with no problem. The Hass avocado has become the mainstream variety, but if people want to have a direct connection to all varieties of fresh avocados, we are here to help!
Unfortunately, I don’t live in a place where I can get local avocados — I live in Pittsburgh! It’s so sad that even in season, the avocados are often $2-$3 a piece and still of terrible quality. It is so hard to find a good one.
I feel like I just learned a lot that I didn’t even know that I didn’t know.…you know?
I don’t get a lot of choice of avocados here in East TN. We have three varieties: none available, one variety available, and one variety available but not worth buying.
But even still, what you have shared here will help me in knowing the difference between the last two!
Thanks for this terrific info on avocados! We definitely love them at our house, especially in sandwiches or salads.
Seeing “diet avocados” in the produce aisle always makes me giggle. They’re such a waste of time! I’m a Haas girl all the way 🙂
My home in California had an avocado tree. Now that I live in vegetable wasteland avocados are not something I get to eat very often. It never fails that when I take an artichoke up to the checkout to pay they say AVOCADO?
Oh yeah, I live where these literally grow on trees (in fact, one of said trees is in my yard). But you’re right…you need to try the different kinds of avocados because they all have their own unique taste. My absolute fav is the Reed avocado. Those are pretty much relegated to farmer’s markets only because they don’t travel well at all. And they’re the size of a grapefruit.
I do miss getting them in CA but now that we live in MN they are a rare treat in our house.
Just yesterday I made an avocado pesto. Living here in Canada avocados are grown no where near here so can vouch for the fact that I have never had the pleasure of eating a tree ripened avocado. I would liken to eating a grocery store pear and a tree-ripened one. The evidence is in the juice running down my arm.
I love avocados so much that I’m willing to endure the 2 ours of stomach cramps that occur after eating them. Now that’s love.
I live in Andalucia and the avo’s we have at the moment are the “Bacon” ones your picture- although I doubt they’re called that here! When it’s windy we pick them off the floor where we walk with the dog and I prefer them to the Hass. Hass avos here are always bruised and irregularly ripen so you end up throwing a lot away. I’m off to try and find out what they call the Bacon ones here, thanks!!
