I made amazing Milk Chocolate Toffee Cookies.
I could stop this post right there because that is a nearly perfect sentence. It’s got a subject and a predicate. As a bonus, it contains the word toffee, and of course the word amazing. What else does good writing require?
Like awesome before it, amazing has become a silly word. However, I use it here because I don’t have much of a sweet tooth and toffee is probably the only sugary thing I simply cannot pass by. Every other sweet treat you can think of I could either eat or not eat. Even chocolate. See how amazed you are?
What makes toffee truly memorable (err… amazing) to me is the complex, difficult to describe manner that the butter and sugar cook past the point of sweetness into darker territory. I’m not saying toffee is bitter. But it certainly carries the slightest suggestion of sinister intent. I think that’s what I like about it so much.
However, cookies are a different story. Few sweets satisfy quite so many people as a perfectly baked cookie. Everyone loves them. They seem so sweetly innocent, with none of the dark mystery that I love about toffee. I like cookies too, but I’m persnickety about the texture. For me, the ideal cookie has a crumb that’s crisp and slightly caramelized on the outside, with a chewy, yet not raw, interior. The sweetness should be balanced with just a hint of salt.
Milk Chocolate Toffee Cookies
Which is why I like these Milk Chocolate Toffee Cookies so much. They have the texture of my perfect cookie and the dark mystery of toffee. These Milk Chocolate Toffee Cookies are chewy, sticky, and rich. I don’t think I need to say anything more amazing than that. GREG
My cookies def did not turn out looking like yours. For some reason my cookies always turn out ugly and mounded-looking.
Also, the coarse salt did not melt/dissolve so I would bite into chunks of salt. My package says coarse salt… Next time time I will try it with regular table salt.
Not sure if the saltiness was the plan but I had to top all the cookies after the first batch with a few grains of coarse salt to make them “salted toffee” cookies.
Pinned!!!! I adore toffee!! And cookies!!!
Love toffee — so this is right up my alley. Will be trying these cookies soon. Thanks, Greg!
YUM! I actually don’t mind amazing. Stunning is what gets me. Every time I see someone describing something as “stunning,” I feel like they’ve gone overboard. Ahh well, we all have our hot buttons 😉 During the holiday season, I always add toffee bits to my chocolate chip cookies, so I’m sure I’d love these cookies.
I think “amazing” has become such a popular word because the food police say we shouldn’t use “delicious.” And sometimes something is simply delicious — these cookies, for example.
All that, and they look gorgeous too! Think I’ll bake a batch this weekend for some college “care packages” I need to mail next week.
Wow, these DO look amazing, Greg! I love toffee and chocolate together. A total match made in heaven!
I think you might want to think about adding the word “perfect” in the first sentence — if it’s really going to be a perfect sentence. 😉 Toffee is right up there with chocolate and coffee for me.
“Slightest suggestion of sinister intent.” Amazing indeed!
The milk chocolate toffee cookies are awesome. Served up with a really good, hot steaming cup of coffee this would bring it to a new level.

I luuuuv heath bars. You got me at the toffee word…
Ah, the dark and ‘bad boy’ side of Greg emerges. The real test will be if Mark eats them, as he, too, always eschews desserts. (For me, evey meal needs closure… but at is the Virgo in me talking…) After travels, I will give these a whirl. If Mark won’t eat them, well… someboday has to! (Pick me!)
One word: yum! ~Bijouxs
This awesome post is amazing, yo. But you forgot to tie cute little ribbons around the cookie stack 😉
Okay in all seriousness though, I don’t have a sweet tooth either but love toffee and can’t past up toffee. Wonder if that’s true with most people who don’t like sweets.
Toffee is one of my favorite candies ever!!! (Heath bar crunch ice cream anyone?!) These cookies look awesome.
I think I just swooned:-)
