FOOD: Roasted Pumpkin and Asparagus Lasagne

With its distinctive "white Burgundy nose," this wine boasts aromas of lemon, apple and flint; while flavors of green apple, lemon curd and a stony minerality define the palate. Made from 100% Chardonnay, this wine certainly has the body to stand up to Greg's creamy lasagna. The asparagus in the dish, however, requires a wine with plentiful acidity and no oaky flavors– and this wine meets both requirements beautifully.

The Maconnais is a large wine-producing region located between the more famous Cote d'Or to the north, and Beaujolais to the South. Look for Macon-Villages, St. Veran and Pouilly-Fuisse. Although they could never be compared to the Cote d'Or's legendary wines from such villages as Puligny-Montrachet or Meursault, they usually offer good quality at value prices. And of course, all white Burgundy (with the exception of Aligote) is 100% Chardonnay by law.
