Today is a very exciting day! I just had to check in here and mark it in some way.
I thought I would pass along the Obama menu from todays inaugural lunch. This traditional lunch is presented by the Joint Congressional Committee and will follow the swearing-in.
I have not been invited. But I have heard it will consist of three courses. And like all successful dinner parties it has a "theme".
It's theme is Lincoln (The President, not the logs).
The first course is a seafood stew. Said to be a favorite of Lincoln's.
This is to be followed by "a brace of American birds" -- pheasant and duck with a sour cherry chutney accompanied by molasses sweet potatoes. It's inspiration is Lincoln's childhood on the Kentucky- Indiana frontier. But I can't reallly understand how.
Dessert will be apple-cinnamon sponge cake and sweet cream glacé. The wines will be from Duckhorn. A Sauvignon Blanc from their Napa property and a "Goldeneye" Pinot Noir from their Mendocino vineyard.
It's sounds delicious. I am so excited...you don't have to eat the lunch to reap the benefits!
SERIOUS FUN FOOD

Hello Greg!

Wish I had a better English to share more about life and politics beside food! :)
In my opinion May is the best month to travel in Turkey (as long as you're not planning a full-sunbathing holiday). I love Istanbul best in May, and also Black Sea region is suitable to go in May.
If you're planning a trip to Black Sea region of Turkey, I can help for sure. Also I have contacts about other alternatives for other places to help. And of course you're welcome to Istanbul anytime :)
I'm not a professional guide but good at showing hospitality lol
